A Costa Mesa police officer and the driver of another vehicle were injured in a crash Thursday morning as the officer was in a police cruiser responding to a call near Baker Street and Fairview Road in Costa Mesa. Both were sent to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The officer, with lights flashing on top of her vehicle, was pulling into the intersection of Baker and Fairview at about 7 a.m. in response to a domestic violence situation when a sedan collided with her car, police said.
Costa Mesa police and firefighters arrived at the scene and closed the intersection and diverted traffic. The intersection was cleared by about 8:45 a.m., police said.
