Hawes Elementary PTA to hold fundraising gala

Hawes Elementary School will hold its second annual gala fundraiser event. The school desperately needs to raise money to make up for the California budget shortfall.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, State Assemblyman Tom Harman and Huntington Beach Mayor Dave Sullivan have all been invited to speak.
The gala is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Waterfront Hilton, 21100 Pacific Coast Highway. For more information, call (714) 845-8000.
Brethren Christian School to hold preview for prospective students
Brethren Christian Junior and Senior High School in Huntington Beach will hold a preview day for local families to come in, learn about all programs offered and meet some current students, faculty and staff. There will also be time for a question-and-answer session.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the school, 21141 Strathmoor Lane. For more information, call (714) 962-6617.
Local teachers honored by CSU Fullerton’s College of Education
Seven teachers from Huntington Beach were among 80 Orange County teachers to be honored by CSU Fullerton’s College of Education at the inaugural “Honor a Teacher” awards reception Saturday.
Huntington Beach residents Bill and Judy Blankinship, Corinne Burton, Sal Cracchiolo, Diana Lester, Michelle Mulligan and Debra Lee Tang were all selected to receive honored teacher awards.
The honored teacher recipients were recommended by College of Education faculty members or members of the college’s advisory boards. Donations have been made in each of the teachers names to the College of Education’s Honor a Teacher Scholarship Fund.
