Lions relay team moves on

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. ? The Vanguard University men’s distance medley relay team had the second-fastest qualifying time to advance to the final at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
Lions Ryan Allen, Eric Van Aken, Matt Meyer and Humberto Rojas combined for a time of 10 minutes, 12.23 seconds to advance to the eight-team final scheduled for Saturday.
Allen completed 1,200 meters in 3:08, followed by Van Aken (400 in 48.5), Meyer (800 in 1:56.1) and Rojas, a product of Estancia High and Orange Coast College (1,600 in 4:19.7).
The Lions were second in their semifinal heat. It was the third straight year Vanguard has qualified for the final in this event.
