Jane Paulsen, Sophia Andrei-Birca and Coco Davis all swept in doubles for the Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team in Tuesday’s 13-5 Surf League road win over Los Alamitos.
Lena Pham and Shea Tomac won twice in doubles for first-place CdM (12-4, 4-0 in league), ranked No. 9 in CIF Southern Section Division 1.
CdM hosts Huntington Beach (3-1 in league) in a key league match Thursday.
Edison 12, Fountain Valley 6: Kailee You swept in singles for the Chargers in Tuesday’s Wave League rivalry match at Edison High.
Eleanor Hamlin and Makenna Mahony won twice in singles for Edison (4-11, 3-1 in league).
Emily Tran and Iris Chau won twice at No. 1 doubles for Fountain Valley (4-11, 0-4).
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Newbury Park Adventist 3, Liberty Christian 0: The host Minutemen were swept 25-14, 25-3, 25-12 on Tuesday in a wildcard round match of the CIF Southern Section Division 9 playoffs.
Liberty Christian, which advanced to the playoffs out of the Western League, ends its season with a record of 3-6.
Newbury Park Adventist (5-5) goes on the road to face No. 2-seeded Avalon (22-4) in the first round on Thursday.
