DUI checkpoint slated for Saturday night
Huntington Beach police will be checking for drunken drivers Saturday night in downtown.
The Police Department is expected to hold a DUI checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Main Street.
Officers will be checking cars that pass through Main Street to see if motorists have a valid license and for driving under the influence.
Officials want to educate the public about the dangers of drinking and driving and lower the number of alcohol related injures and deaths, which increase during the summer.
In summer 2008, almost 8,000 people were killed or injured in alcohol-related accidents.
